Workshop 01

Money & Marketing

Know your numbers. Tell your story.

1 Hour · Free to Attend

You have a great idea — now how do you make it work? In this hands-on session, we will walk through the basics of pricing your product, understanding what it costs you to make it, and how to keep more of what you earn. We will also cover simple, low-cost ways to spread the word about your business: from telling friends and family to making a flyer that actually gets noticed. No spreadsheets required — just a pen, some curiosity, and your idea.

Perfect for first-timers and anyone who wants to feel more confident about the business side of things.

What We Cover

  • What does it cost to make your product?
  • How to set a price that makes sense
  • Understanding profit in plain language
  • Getting the word out on a small budget
  • Simple marketing ideas that actually work
Workshop 02

Pitch with Confidence

Tell your story like you mean it.

1 Hour · Free to Attend

One of the best parts of fair day is getting to talk about something you built — but it can feel nerve-wracking to stand in front of judges and customers. This session is all about making that feel natural. We will practice sharing your business idea in a short, clear, and exciting way, set up a booth that draws people in, and get comfortable answering questions on the spot. By the end, you will have your own elevator pitch ready to go — and you might even enjoy using it.

Great for any participant — especially if the idea of talking to strangers makes you a little nervous.

What We Cover

  • What is an elevator pitch and how to write yours
  • How to talk about your business with energy and confidence
  • Setting up a booth that gets people to stop and look
  • Answering questions from judges and customers
  • Practice rounds with real feedback

Dates and locations will be confirmed and sent to all accepted applicants. You do not need to sign up separately — just show up, bring a notebook, and come ready to learn. These sessions are not required, but students who attend tend to feel a lot more ready on fair day.
